Executive Committee

Exercises powers as authorised by the Board of Directors and shall be responsible for the transaction of all business requiring the attention of the Society between meetings of the Board of Directors.

Program Committee

Is responsible for the program of scientific meetings organised by the Society (e.g. consideration of regional conferences and workshops, short courses, advice to annual TIES meetings)

Election Committee

Shall make nominations for elected office and shall certify the outcome of all voting for candidates for office in accordance with the Society terms. Appointed by President. Three (3) regular members who agree not to place their names in nomination. Committee’s main duties will be over the period 1/9/2014 through to 31st August 2015.

Publications Committee

Chaired by the Publications Officer and shall include the Secretary, Treasurer and such additional members as may be determined by the Board of Directors. It shall generally supervise the publication policy of the Society and may make recommendations concerning the editorial policy of the Society’s various publications.

Other Committees

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee will be responsible for initiatives that involve TIES membership recruitment, benefits and promotion. This shall include: (1) making recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding membership issues; and (2) acting on membership issues in accordance with established policy or Board directions. The President-Elect will be the Chair of the Membership Committee. Membership should include at least one member from each Region. Two-year term that coincides with the term of the President-Elect.

Awards Committee

The Awards Committee will be responsible for TIES awards in general. Two-year term that coincides with the term of the President. Duties involve:

  • making recommendations to the Board of Directors concerning new awards and changes to existing awards
  • acting on the directions of the Board of Directors regarding new awards and changes to exiting awards
  • overseeing the process of granting established awards at all stages and according to the criteria and procedures that have been set out for each award
  • retaining responsibility for the plaques for the J. Stuart Hunter Lecture and the President’s Invited Lecture
  • coordinating award activities with the Board of Directors and Conference Organizing committees as appropriate.

Liaison and Outreach Committee

The Liaison and Outreach Committee will be responsible for promoting cooperation with other scientific societies and agencies whose interests are compatible with the objectives of TIES. This could include conference or conference session sponsorship, joint or sponsored workshops, and a variety of cooperative efforts. Approval of the Board of Directors or of the President, as appropriate, will be obtained unless the activity falls within established procedures which do not require such approval. Two-year term that coincides with the term of the President. Membership should include at least one member from each Region.
