PRESENTATION

Meeting Presentation (December 16th,2014)

AGENDA

Reports will be uploaded to TIES website prior to the AGM.

The AGM is an important gathering of TIES members to hear about the Progress of the Society, recent and on-going developments and the achievements of the Society, its regions and members during the past year. The meeting also provides a forum for members to put forward their ideas for the future of the Society.

A minimum (or quorum) of 10 Regular members - present in person at the meeting - are required to conduct the AGM.

No positions are open for Election at this AGM, with the next Elections to occur during 2015, with new Board members to be elected at the next AGM (July 2015) and starting in their respective roles in September 2015.

The AGM will consider a number of important Society matters - with one special business item for this upcoming AGM. The TIES Board will be making recommendations, discuss and have the TIES Assembly make a majority decision on TIES transitioning to Full Association Status with the International Statistical Institute (ISI). TIES embarked on this journey in 2010 and the TIES Board is committed to presenting the deliberations of the Board, the ISI-TIES Taskforce, listening to the Assembly's views and concerns and then at the meeting make a decision on transitioning to Full Association status with ISI.  The Special Business Report (tabled by the Board) provides an outline of the critical information for this item of business, with explicit recommendations and motions that will be considered at the AGM

Regular Members have the right to attend and vote at an annual general meeting or a general meeting by proxy1.  A proxy holder must be a regular member of the Society. All proxies must be in written form  provided at the end of this message.   Every motion at the AGM shall be determined by a majority of votes unless otherwise specified in the by-laws.

If you have any other business that you feel is relevant to the AGM, then please note that this should be submitted to the Secretary [secretary@environmetrics.org] in writing, at least seven (7) days before the meeting.

I urge those attending the TIES2015 Conference to attend and support the Society. After the AGM we will have the opportunity to network more on the Pearl River night cruise. I look forward to seeing you there.

Yours sincerely

Bronwyn

TIES President
